The Most Tiring Day Ever

On Tuesday the 31 of August, we had such a Tiring day... Cross country!!I hated it. You had to run around some of the school and down the road just to go back up to the school gates again. Man was it tiring. But one of the worst bits was, having to sit back down in your house again. I think Hillary House was pretty unlucky because we had to sit in the shade which meant that we got absolutly freezing!!

I would not want to make it into the finals, because that would mean even more running. By the end of the day, I was pretty sure everyone was ready to fall into bed, I'm pretty sure I was.

Cross Country Day!

On the 31 August, it was cross country day.I was sitting in the year five girls when Mr K called the year four girls to the court to warm up.The school was cheering loudly but I thought Hillary cheered the best. The first clappers went and the school cheered so loud I nearly went deaf. There were three races before it was my turn.Mr K called the year five girls to warm up.Mrs Naidoo took us to line up.The clappers went and I ran so hard i couldn't stop. Two laps went so fast but I was a bit disappointed with myself because I came 20th. I was so happy the day was over it was so tiring to do but it was still very fun.

A Tiresome Day!!!!!!!!!

On 31st of August, we had the most tiring day! It was Cross Country. We were in our houses to wait for our turn to run. Everyone who were waiting to run, cheered for everyone else who was running. I thought Hillary were the best supporters and house. I was glad that Cross Crountry was over and done with!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also alot of people did so well. I was really proud of Hillary house. Some came 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I thought that the whole syndicate did so well!!!!!!!!!!!

The baton this year was made in India, with all of the different types of sand in India.

The Baton Relay!!!!

On Tuesday the 18Th of May The Queen's Baton came to our school and some of the people from our school got to run with it and two girls in our class were very lucky to be two of those people. The Baton is made up of different sands from different parts of India there are different Batons around the world they are made for all the different Commonwealth Games. This one has a GPS system and led lighting in it and it lights up with three colours of the flag for the country its in.

Commonwealth games baton relay

On may 18 the Commonwealth games where in Auckland.3 schools in Auckland got chosen...
... My school was one!!!
Inside the baton is a G.P.S. that's what satellites track down. 3 colours of the country flag it's in will be showen.
In it is a leaf with tiny writing the Queen wrote.
Last week the Baton came to our school. The Baton lit up with lights.14 people from our school ran to Lady Star of the sea.

The Great Baton relay

The Commonwealth Games comes only once 4 years to celebrate games and sports , like swimming , biking , running and rugby. There's even the Baton and inside the Baton is a special message from the Queen of England and a cool G.P.S system .The Commonwealth Games are held in Delhi this year.

Baton Relay

Today we were all excited because the Queens baton was coming to our school so a mix of fourteen year a five and six children were chosen to run with the baton to Our Lady Star Of The Sea school. The baton made with different types of sands from India and a SPECIAL message from the Queen that will be read out at the Commonwealth games. A special visitor came to talk to us before the relay runners ran with the baton. Danyon Loader was the special guest an Olympic GOLD medalist for swimming and we got a photo with Danyon Loader is that cool or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS:the Commonwealth games are being held in Delhi India.

The Baton Relay

About a week ago,Botany Downs Primary School took part in the baton relay. We were one of the three schools to take part in the baton relay.

Once Mr.T [our principal] told us that we were going to take part in the baton relay, we were extremely excited.

Finally the day came. Everyone was screaming like CRAZY. It was so loud I had an Earache for like 20 minutes!

A person from Howick Primary carried the baton to our school. Then we went in our hall. We sang some songs too.

By the way, if you want to know what baton is, it is a stick that carries letter from the queen of England. The baton was very interesting because it had lights that showed you which country you are in.

RUGBY

In our game against Whakaranga we lost 55 nil to them. We played ok but we could play better. Hopefully we will do better next time. Rugby's cool but its a lot harder than soccer. I like being in the first 15 the school team.

Year 6 Camp

At Camp Bentzon, Kawau Island

Year Six Camp

Our Year Six camp was so awesome at Kawau Island, I had a great time. My favourite activity had to be orienteering because with my group we were fine at first but then we had a bit of a problem because we got lost on KILLER HILL!!!! It killed my knees for a few minutes. All the teachers were calling Mr K [our group's adult ] on his cellphone but somehow we made it back in one piece. My least favourite activity was the bush walks because my feet and legs hurt so much because we walked for 2-3 hours and walked over and under, sideways, up and down it got really tiring. We also kayaked, sailed, abseiled and built bivouacs too. I really enjoyed camp at Kawau. It was cool bananas !!!!!!!!

New Classroom

Room 21 is excited because they are going to be moving to their new classroom of 22. We will move when our data projector is transferred. The pictures above are parts of the classroom. We hope you like our new classroom.

Year six camp Kawau Island

The Year Six's went to camp at Kawau Island on 19th of April-23rd of April. The first thing we did was bring all the bags in. After that, we had lunch with Erin and Peter (camp caretakers), then they talked to us about Camp Bentzon. then we went to our rooms to put our stuff in and see our beds. Then we went to play. the next day we had the fitness trail. My favourite one was the monkey bars. After that we went to have breakfast and every morning we had room inspection so we had to clean our rooms. We did activities after and on Wednesday, we went to Mansion House.

A.N.Z.A.C

Last week we made an Anzac folder while the Year Six's were away at Kawau Island (for camp.) We did a word search and much more REALLY cool worksheets. First we had Mrs J for Monday and Tuesday, then on Wednesday we had Mrs Thomas. The next day we had Mrs Henderson then again on Friday we had Mrs Thomas. Today we are back too normal with Miss Lowans.

Planet and Galaxy Pictures

We have been making glitter pictures of the planets. First we put glue as the shape of the planet and put the colouered glitter where we wanted it. Then we put the paper on white paper.

Last Day of Swimming

This morning is our last day of swimming.I duncked my feet in the icy cold waterand made my way in. I was finally in. It was the coldest time I have ever been in the pool. We got to play with the noodles and fish since it was our last day. The water was icy cold and by the end of the lesson. I was fully under.
